TECHNOLOGY

LiFi, also known as VLC, is a wireless communication technology based on the use of visible light - generated by LED lights - between the color blue (450 nm) and the color red (760 nm).  As opposed to WiFi technology which uses the radio part of the electromagnetic spectrum, LiFi technology uses the light spectrum. LiFi layer protocols are governed by the international IEEE standard 802.15.7, implemented in 2011 by the IEEE committee.
